SOPHISTICATED CACHING
SmartCD performs directory, data and read-ahead caching to improve performance in multi-user environments. Directory caching creates a bound directory that resides on hard disk to minimize repeated access to CDs. Data caching moves requests for directory information to RAM and virtual memory, so that subsequent requests for previously located directory information are retrieved rapidly. Read-ahead caching anticipates that adjacent information will soon be requested and moves it to hard disk so that the upcoming request can be fulfilled quickly, freeing valuable CD readers to retrieve subsequent requests. Read-ahead caching is critical for use with DVLs large storage applications.

SmartCD for ACCESS

• Runs directly on an NT workstation or server v.3.51 or 4.0 to present all data as a CDFS (CD File System) volume.
• Supports all platforms that can access a CDFS volume, including PC, Macintosh and UNIX.
• SmartCD application manager provides icon-based access to CDs from all Windows desktops.
• Standard Windows NT security to control access to files and applications.

CD STANDARDS SUPPORTED

• ISO 9660 Level 1 support for running all standard ISO applications.
• ISO 9660 Level 3 support for running Windows 95 and Windows NT applications with 32-character filenames.
• PhotoCD Support.

• Intel-based Windows NT server or workstation v.3.51 or 4.0 with 16 MB RAM (32 MB or more recommended).

SmartCD for ACCESS

• Runs directly on an Novell NetWare 3.12 or 4.1 file server to present all data as a standard NetWare volume.
• Supports all PCs and Macintoshes running NetWare, including resource forks for Macintosh clients.
• SmartCD application manager provides icon-based access to CDs from all Windows desktops.
• Standard Novell security for controlling access to all files and applications.
